The implant’s shape can be either round or contoured, and there are bad things and good things about both. Implants can also be either smooth or textured.

While textured implants were originally created to reduce the risk of capsular contracture, there’s little evidence to substantiate this.

As far as size goes, choosing the size of the implant, and thus the size of your breasts, is often one of the most difficult decisions that the breast augmentation candidate has to make. Larger implants require you to have a fair amount of existing tissue, otherwise surgical complications may occur and the edges of the implant may be more easily seen or felt following surgery. Drooping and sagging, which can occur with naturally large breasts, may also be more likely to occur with large implants.

Saline-filled implants are being used right now for practically all breast augmentation procedures performed today. The saline solution is basically a salt-water solution which is similar to the fluid which comprises most of the human body.
