While textured implants were originally created to reduce the risk of capsular contracture, there’s little evidence proving that they do. Choosing the size of the implant, and thus the size of the breasts, is one of the most difficult decisions that breast augmentation patients say they had to make. Larger implants require you to have enough existing tissue, otherwise surgical complications can materialize and the edges of the implant may be more easily seen or felt following surgery. Additionally, large implants may be more prone to drooping or sagging just as naturally large breasts are. Either a saline solution or silicone gel can be used to fill the implant itself. Saline-filled implants are being used at present for almost all breast augmentation procedures performed today. The saline solution is basically a salt-water solution which is similar to the fluid which comprises most of the human body.
