A tummy tuck, also referred to as tummy tuck, is a surgical procedure which can produce a flatter, more pleasing abdomen. Excess fat and skin are removed from the abdomen and the muscles of the abdominal wall tightened in order to achieve this. This procedure may be performed in a surgical center, office or hospital, and most commonly requires either general anesthesia or local anesthesia combined with sedation. The procedure can take anywhere from two to five hours to complete.

The bellybutton is stitched into place after having a new hole cut for it, then the incisions are closed.
