Rhinoplasty most often takes between one and two hours to complete, longer for more extensive procedures. The procedure can be performed in a surgeon’s office, surgical center, or hospital, and typically involves either a local anesthetic combined with sedation or general anesthesia. Once the desired shape is achieved, the skin will be pulled back and the incisions will then be closed with sutures. Patients usually find that they can return to work within one to two weeks, though more strenuous activity may need to be postponed for two to three weeks.
