Rhinoplasty, otherwise known as a nose job, is the surgical procedure intended to alter the look of the nose, though it may also be used to relieve breathing problems. This can be achieved in several ways. The overall size can be reduced or increased, the span of the nostrils narrowed, the shape of the tip or bridge of the nose changed, or the angle between the nose and upper lip altered. Rhinoplasty most often requires between one and two hours to complete, longer for more complicated procedures. The type of anesthesia most commonly used is either a general anesthetic or a local anesthetic combined with sedation. The procedure an be performed in a surgeon’s office, surgical center, or hospital. Patients typically can return to work within one to two weeks, though more strenuous activity should be put off for two to three weeks. Possible risks and complications associated with rhinoplasty are as follows: infection, bursting of blood vessels, the need for additional surgeries, adverse anesthesia reactions, dissatisfaction with results, airway obstruction, bleeding, excessive scarring, and poor healing. ![]() Thanks for browsing this cosmetic surgery site.
