Rhinoplasty generally requires between one and two hours to complete, longer for more extensive procedures. The procedure can be performed in a surgeon’s office, surgical center, or hospital, and typically involves either a local anesthetic combined with sedation or general anesthesia.

Patients are typically able to return to work within one to two weeks, though more strenuous activity should be avoided for two to three weeks. The possible risks associated with rhinoplasty may include the following: infection, bursting of blood vessels, the need for additional surgeries, adverse anesthesia reactions, dissatisfaction with results, airway obstruction, bleeding, excessive scarring, and poor healing.
