Rhinoplasty generally takes between one and two hours to complete, longer for more extensive procedures. The skin of the nose is lifted after the incisions are made to reveal the underlying bone and cartilage. The bone and cartilage a more pleasing shape to can then be sculpted by removing, adding to, or rearranging. The skin will be pulled back and the incisions closed once the desired shape is achieved. Possible risks and complications associated with rhinoplasty are as follows: infection, bursting of blood vessels, the need for additional surgeries, adverse anesthesia reactions, dissatisfaction with results, airway obstruction, bleeding, excessive scarring, and poor healing.
