Rhinoplasty takes on average between one and two hours to complete, though more extensive procedures may take longer. It can be performed in a surgeon’s office, a surgical center, or in a hospital with either local anesthesia combined with sedation or with general anesthesia. Patients are typically able to return to work within one to two weeks, though more strenuous activity may need to be held off for two to three weeks. Possible risks and complications associated with rhinoplasty are as follows: infection, bursting of blood vessels, the need for additional surgeries, adverse anesthesia reactions, dissatisfaction with results, airway obstruction, bleeding, excessive scarring, and poor healing.
