Plastic Surgery, which includes both reconstructive and cosmetic surgery, is a branch of surgery which entails the repair or replacement of malformed, injured or lost organs or tissues of the body. Reconstructive and cosmetic surgery differ in two main ways. First, reconstructive procedures are usually covered by insurance companies while cosmetic procedures are not. Second, function is typically improved through reconstructive surgery, while form or appearance is usually dealt with through cosmetic surgery.
