Tumescent Liposuction utilizes a large volume of fluid containing a local anesthetic and epinephrine which is injected into the fatty tissue, causing it to become swollen and firm before being removed. For Ultrasound-Assisted Liposuction (UAL) the fat is liquefied using ultrasound energy before it is removed.
