Most patients are able to return to work within ten to fourteen days. However, more strenuous activities should be avoided for two or more weeks. Facelift surgery, also called rhytidectomy or rhytidoplasty, is the surgical procedure aimed at reducing wrinkling and sagging of the face and neck. A more youthful appearance can be achieved by removing excess fat, tightening the underlying muscles, and/or redraping the skin of the face and neck. The procedure may require several hours to complete and may be carried out in a surgeon’s office, an outpatient surgery center, or in a hospital. Either a local anesthetic combined with sedation or a general anesthetic is likely to be used. The risks of facelift surgery may include the following: adverse anesthesia reactions, asymmetry, bleeding, change in hairline, excessive scarring, hematoma, infection, nerve injury, and poor healing. ![]() Did you find what you need?
