The procedure usually requires several hours to complete and may occur in a surgeon’s office, an outpatient surgery center, or in a hospital. The type of anesthesia most often used is either general anesthesia or local anesthesia combined with sedation. Complications which can result from facelift surgery may include the following: adverse anesthesia reactions, asymmetry, bleeding, change in hairline, excessive scarring, hematoma, infection, nerve injury, and poor healing.
