The procedure can require several hours to complete and may be carried out in a surgeon’s office, an outpatient surgery center, or in a hospital. Either a local anesthetic combined with sedation or a general anesthetic is likely to be used. Most patients are able to return to work within ten to fourteen days. However, more strenuous activities should be avoided for two or more weeks. The risks of facelift surgery may include the following: adverse anesthesia reactions, asymmetry, bleeding, change in hairline, excessive scarring, hematoma, infection, nerve injury, and poor healing.
